Mohammed Barawi, M.D.

Board-certified internal medicine and gastroenterology physician Mohammed Barawi, MD, is widely respected for his treatment and care for his patients at G.I. Medicine Associates, P.C. in St. Clair Shores and Macomb, Michigan.

Dr. Barawi received his Doctorate of Medicine from Damascus University School of Medicine in Damascus, Syria. He completed his medical training in internal medicine and a fellowship in gastroenterology at Southern Illinois University in Springfield, Illinois, where he also served as the Clinical Assistant Professor of Gastroenterology.

Dr. Barawi also completed fellowships in therapeutic pancreaticobiliary at Indiana University in Indianapolis, Indiana, and a one-year training in endoscopic ultrasound at Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola, New York.

He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and American Medical Association.

Dr. Barawi practices at Ascension St. John Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, at Beaumont Grosse Pointe, Michigan, and at Eastside Endoscopy Center in St. Clair Shores, Michigan.

Currently, he serves as the medical director of the endoscopy unit and the division head of the gastroenterology department, both at Ascension St. John Hospital.

Dr. Barawi has published original papers and abstracts on endoscopic ultrasound and other endoscopic procedures. 

He dedicates his practice to diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, and pancreas, with particular interests in endoscopic ultrasound, diagnostic and therapeutic ERCP, including stent placement, and advanced endoscopy procedures, including ESD, EMR, and POEM.
